2004

Most of the decorations this year are very similar to last year as I can't afford to get all new stuff each year.  I do try to add or detract a little and rearrange things a bit to keep it interesting, though.  This year I picked up several sections of black plastic garden edging that looks like wrought iron fencing.  I thought this would make a good fence around the graveyard and it did turn out looking pretty good.

This is the larger of the pumpkins this year.  Overall, I was a bit disappointed in my carving this year.  I didn't seem to be be very imaginative this year and they came out rather average at best.  In the foreground is part of the orange rope light.

This is the second largest pumpkin, though almost s big as the biggest one.

This year I broke tradition and bought a third pumpkin and this is the smallest of the three.  It's almost as tall as the others but considerably thinner.  I wanted to get a white pumpkin to do the mummy face but there weren't all that many at Cox Farm this year and they were quite a bit smaller and not the right shape.  I had to settle for using diluted white glue to paste strips of paper towel onto the outside of a standard orange one.  I bought a pair of eyes that light up and flash, hoping to make it look better but, in the end, it didn't turn out as good as I was hoping.

This is the left side of the house showing the graveyard I put out each year.  This year I bought some plastic landscaping "fencing" to simulate a wrought iron graveyard fence.

Right side with the solitary "Barry Dull" tombstone, grim reaper, and the largest of the pumpkins.

I took this one on Halloween afternoon at an oblique angle in order to get most of the house in one shot; the only thing missing is the "witches hovel."  It was an absolutely beautiful day with an almost totally sunny sky and the temperature hovering around 75 degrees, as you might guess by the dropped top on my car in the foreground.

Closer shot of the grim reaper and the "ghostly apparition" device.  The grim reaper has, as with last year, red low voltage bulbs for eyes.  The ghost was first used last year and it has a motion sensor that activates when someone approaches.  When that happens, three blue/purple lights come on shining down on the skull and hands,  Then the hands and head begin going up and down while a small speaker emits groans and howls.

The biggest pumpkin, taken after dark.  The medium sized one is below, also shown lighted after dark.
