Halloween 2008

This picture was taken just at dusk. It's the witch door knocker and wreath that we had last year. A motion sensor inside triggers one of several pre-recorded phrases, she shudders, and green LEDs in the eyes light up. This year, she served a functional purpose as our doorbell wasn't working as she announced the arrival of the Trick or Treaters for us.
As with last year, the garland around the door also
concealed the power cord running to the other side of the house. |

Here's the hanging ghost just at dusk, illuminated
with a spotlight. |

Here is the new tombstone and devil figure. I also got a new fog machine the previous August from eBay (hidden in the bushes). It was made for the DJ at clubs to produce fog effects and has an ice chamber built in to chill the fog, allowing it to lie low to the ground. It was originally pretty expensive but it apparently had a leak in the ice chamber making it unusable in the clubs. However, since I'm only using it outside for Halloween, that didn't matter and I got it really cheap. |

This prop is also new this year and I put this one
on the opposite end of the grave yard from the devil. After I got
it, I got a pair of battery-powered red LED eyes and put them in the head. |
|
Here's the talking witch in the same place as
last year. I kept her close to the door to discourage any potential
"souvenir hunters." As with last year, she was a big hit again. |
|
Here is the center part of the grave yard.
This is the third of fourth year for this guy. The black rectangle
on the top of the hand is a solar cell and light sensor. While it
doesn't show with the flash, there is a LED in the lantern that come on
after dark. |
|
The figure next to the pumpkin is something I've had
for several years but I usually leave it just inside the door. This
year we put it out on the porch. It also has a motion sensor and
says cute little phrases in a child's voice when activated. |
|
Here's the "undead ghoul" crawling
out of the grave. The face and fingers are just thin hollow latex.
After last year, I had planned to fill the backs with expandable
insulating foam to give them some "body" but I forgot about it. This
year I at least affixed the face to a Styrofoam wig display head to keep
it from collapsing. Hopefully I will remember the foam this time. |

Here's me under one of the lighted arches in my
"Goat of Bael" costume, the same one I donned late on last Halloween
evening. |
|
Yum! Shih Tzus. I love Shih Tzus....especially if properly prepared! Here I am again on the front porch with our middle daughter's Shih Tzus. The tan Shih Tzu (Syndar) is wearing an angel costume and the black & white one (Tessa) is a bumble bee; she kept shaking the hat off, though. |
