This one is the Tamiya
P-51B kit. It's mostly out of the box but with a resin cockpit and
Aeromaster decals. The markings on the model depict the aircraft
flown by Lt John Thornhill out of Bodney, UK, late summer/early fall 1944. Finish replicates the typical natural metal
fuselage fuselage with silver lacquered wings. Upper wing invasion stripes
had been over-painted in OD by this time.
I found an old base that I
still had from another model that had gotten broken beyond salvage and set
this one down on it. It had a whip antenna just behind the Malcolm
hood-type canopy that was made from a strand of hair but I broke it off
while dusting it for the photo shoot. |
