Misc bush pictures 2

NOTE:  With a couple exceptions, the pictures on these pages

The last gasps of daylight out in the bush.  I took this with my cheap little Instamatic camera and, actually, was surprised it came out at all since it was almost completely dark at ground level.

Two illumination rounds from a 105mm Howitzer battery fired from the An Hoa combat base.  Once they reached a predetermined point in the air, the shell casing would open up and release the parachute-retarded flares.  They did a pretty good job, too, as you can see the tops of a couple hills also illuminated by the flares and they are several kilometers further away.

This one is a rather interesting shot.  We were patrolling in the hills in the 5th Marine Regiment AOR though I can't remember exactly where it was.  It was late afternoon and the sun was going down.  I grabbed the camera and took this picture.  It's hard to see but if you look closely, you can see an NVA  running.

Hint:  Look just left of the center of the frame and to the right off the larger tree on that side of the picture at the point where the dark ridge meets the lighter sky.  You can see his head, upper body and one arm trailing behind him as he is running.

This was taken later on the same patrol as the picture above.  That may be the Hiep Duc Valley in the distance but I'm not sure anymore.  You can see my M-60 in the left foreground.

This is a shot of the vegetation and one of the taller hills in the distance.  This almost looks like it could have been taken on one of the earlier patrols to Hill 425 but I am not sure.
